By downloading, installing, or using ScreenTame or any other app published by New Watch Co Limited ("the App"), you agree to be bound by these Terms and Conditions ("Terms"). If you do not agree, do not use the App.
These Terms form a legal agreement between you and New Watch Co Limited, a company registered in England and Wales ("we", "us", "our"). Apple Inc. is not a party to this agreement and has no obligation to provide support or handle claims relating to the App.
ScreenTame is a personal productivity application for iOS that uses Apple's Screen Time and Family Controls APIs to help users monitor device usage, build focus habits, and manage app access. The App is intended for personal, non-commercial use.
You must be at least 17 years old to use the App under these Terms. This is our eligibility requirement, not a claim that Apple applies a universal 17+ rating. Check the App Store listing for the rating applicable to your region and operating system. ScreenTame requests individual Screen Time authorisation for self-management; Apple may impose additional restrictions for child accounts.
ScreenTame is free and all of its features are included at no cost. The App offers optional tips to support development. All payments are processed by Apple through the App Store. Tips are one-off, are not subscriptions, and unlock no additional functionality.
We do not process or store your payment information. Refunds are handled by Apple in accordance with their refund policy.
The App is a productivity and habit-tracking tool only. Nothing in the App constitutes medical, psychological, or mental health advice. If you are concerned about your relationship with technology or your mental health, please consult a qualified healthcare professional. We are not liable for any decisions made on the basis of information provided by the App.
Your personal setup, detailed app-use history, goals and profile photo are stored on your device. Optional social features share the summary information described below; they are not a backup of your local profile or progress.
Enabling code sharing or creating/joining a competition publishes relevant information in Apple's public CloudKit database: your chosen nickname, friend and connection codes, current streak, competition names, selected app names/limits, dates, membership, aggregate opens (including running totals), competition streaks, forfeits, final scores/results and related notification messages, sender/recipient codes and timestamps. These records can be accessed by other ScreenTame users, not just friends or competition participants, and by us as the developer. Use a nickname, not personal or contact details. Your photo and detailed session history are not shared. We do not sell your data. See our Privacy Policy for consent, retention, deletion and your rights.
Accountability buddies are for mutual encouragement, not competitive ranking. Competitions are optional habit challenges. ScreenTame does not collect stakes, hold wagers or pay competition winnings; scores are not a payment or prize entitlement.
Connections and limits: connect and enable every required app, checking the actual app displayed by Apple's selector rather than only a saved label. During a competition, the lower daily-open limit and shorter session length each apply independently. For example, personal limits of 10 opens × 3 minutes and competition limits of 4 opens × 5 minutes give 4 opens × 3 minutes, not a pooled daily time allowance. Joining does not relax personal limits. Personal and competition streaks are separate.
Forfeits: leaving a competition or turning off/removing required protection during it counts as a forfeit in versions supporting these checks. In last-person-standing mode, exceeding a competition open limit also eliminates you. An offline or missing record alone is not treated as proof of a loss. Detection and sharing depend on the device recording and syncing the change; the app is not a guaranteed anti-cheating system.
Results: in versions supporting fixed-date final results (1.0.1 build 40 and later), scoring stops at the end-date cutoff. Once all participants' final scores are available, eligible participants are ranked by fewest total competition opens, then longest completed competition streak. Equal scores share first place; if no eligible participant remains there is no winner. A partial final day contributes its opens but does not earn an early completed streak day. Last-person-standing competitions can finish when one eligible participant remains and the required records confirm the outcome, or with no winner if everyone is eliminated.
Sync and alerts: current-day opens can appear before the day's streak is awarded. Another person's scores reflect their latest upload; refreshing cannot retrieve activity their device has not synced. Shields may show cached summaries. At a fixed deadline, the app processes closure on refresh and removes active competition limits, returning to personal settings. Final results and result alerts can wait for final scores, including from closed/offline devices. Notifications require permission and depend on Apple delivery and background execution; they are not guaranteed to arrive immediately, at midnight, or at the exact deadline. Keep both devices updated, open ScreenTame and refresh Friends if results are pending. Older competitions without a verified cutoff may not have a final result.
Leaving and reporting: leaving records a forfeit rather than erasing the competition history. Use Report / block on the leaderboard to report a problem or hide a participant on your device; blocking does not change scores or remove that person for others. Contact james@newwatchco.com for support or deletion requests. Ending a competition or uninstalling the app does not automatically delete its cloud records.
All content, design, code, and branding within the App are the property of New Watch Co Limited and are protected by applicable intellectual property laws. You may not copy, modify, distribute, sell, or reverse-engineer any part of the App without our prior written consent.

The App is provided "as is" and "as available" without any warranties of any kind, whether express or implied. We do not warrant that the App will be uninterrupted, error-free, or free of viruses. We do not guarantee the accuracy of any data displayed, including streak counts, pickup statistics, or usage metrics. Your use of the App is at your sole risk.
To the fullest extent permitted by law, New Watch Co Limited shall not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages arising from your use of the App, including loss of data, loss of profits, or personal injury.
In any event, our total liability to you shall not exceed the amount you paid for the App or any in-app purchases in the twelve months preceding the claim.
Nothing in these Terms excludes or limits liability for death or personal injury caused by negligence, fraud, or any other liability that cannot be excluded by law.
The App relies on Apple's Screen Time, Family Controls, StoreKit and CloudKit frameworks. Your use of those services is subject to Apple's own terms and privacy policy. We are not responsible for the availability or conduct of any third-party service.
We reserve the right to modify, suspend, or discontinue the App at any time without notice. We may also update these Terms from time to time. Continued use of the App after changes are posted constitutes acceptance of the revised Terms.
We may suspend or terminate your access to the App at any time if you breach these Terms. Upon termination, all licences granted to you under these Terms will immediately cease.
These Terms are governed by the laws of England and Wales. Any disputes arising under these Terms shall be subject to the exclusive jurisdiction of the courts of England and Wales.
