The short version: Your screen time data — how often you open apps, your limits, your streaks — stays on your device. We never see it. The one exception is the optional social features: if you add an accountability partner or join a competition, your chosen display name, streak count and competition scores are stored in Apple's iCloud so those people can see them. You can use ScreenTame entirely without ever turning those on. We run no analytics and no advertising, and we never sell anything to anyone.
New Watch Co Limited is the data controller for any personal data processed in connection with our apps and this website. We are registered in England and Wales.

Stays on your device — always:
The following never leaves your iPhone. It is stored locally using Apple's on-device frameworks and we have no access to it:
Leaves your device — only if you use the social features:
ScreenTame's accountability partners and competitions need to show your progress to the people you are competing with. That is only possible if some information is shared. If — and only if — you add a partner or join or create a competition, the following is written to a database in Apple's iCloud (CloudKit) operated under our developer account:
Please be aware that this information is held in a public CloudKit database. It is readable by other users of ScreenTame, not only by the people you have added. Do not use a display name you would not want other users to see. We can also see this information in Apple's CloudKit dashboard.
We never upload your screen time figures, your app list, your limits, your photo, or your email to iCloud or anywhere else. If you never use the social features, nothing about you is stored off your device at all.
On this website (newwatchco.com):
We do not use cookies, analytics, or tracking of any kind. The website is hosted on GitHub Pages, which may process your IP address solely to serve the page — see GitHub's Privacy Statement. The site loads fonts from Google Fonts, which may log your IP address — see Google's Privacy Policy.
Where we process any personal data, we rely on the following legal bases under UK GDPR and EU GDPR:
ScreenTame uses Apple's Screen Time, Family Controls, StoreKit and CloudKit frameworks, and offers Sign in with Apple. Data processed by these frameworks is governed by Apple's Privacy Policy. Apple handles all payment processing for tips; we never receive your card details or billing information. If you use Sign in with Apple you may choose to hide your email address, and we will only ever receive Apple's relay address.
We use no analytics, advertising, tracking or third-party marketing services of any kind, and we do not sell or share your data with anyone for their own purposes.
On your device: everything stored locally is under your control and is removed entirely when you delete the app.
In iCloud: your display name, friend code and streak are kept for as long as you use the social features. Competition records are kept for the life of the competition. If you want this removed, you can leave any competitions and remove your accountability partners in the app, or email us at james@newwatchco.com and we will delete your records — tell us your friend code so we can find them. We will action deletion requests within 30 days.
Deleting the app does not by itself remove records already written to iCloud, so contact us if you want them erased.
Under the UK General Data Protection Regulation (UK GDPR) and EU GDPR, you have the following rights:
To exercise any of these rights, contact us at james@newwatchco.com. We will respond within 30 days.
If you are based in the UK and believe we have not handled your personal data in accordance with UK GDPR, you have the right to lodge a complaint with the Information Commissioner's Office (ICO):

If you are based in the EU, you may contact your local Data Protection Authority.
Your on-device data is not transferred anywhere. Where you use the social features, your display name, friend code and streak are stored in Apple's iCloud, which operates data centres in multiple countries including the United States — see Apple's Privacy Policy. Our website is hosted on GitHub's servers (US-based). Both Apple and GitHub maintain Standard Contractual Clauses for EU/UK data transfers.
Our apps are rated 17+ on the App Store and are not directed at children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal data from children. If Family Controls features are used, this requires authorisation from a parent or legal guardian.
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. We will update the "Last updated" date at the top of this page when changes are made. Continued use of the App or website after changes are posted constitutes acceptance of the revised policy.
